Just starting out?

We’ve got you covered with some quick tips for photographers.

A few key moves at the start of your business will free up your creative side later.

  1. Separate your business and personal finances. For best practice, open a business checking account and move all of your money through this account.

  2. Start tracking all of the money coming in and out of your business. Use a spreadsheet or software to track every transaction in your business. Not only does this keep you organized and ready for taxes, but it ensures that you get maximum tax deductions.

  3. Choose a system to organize your finances, and stick with it! Stay consistent throughout the year and avoid the tax-time crunch.

  4. Open a savings account and transfer a portion of each sale to this account to save for taxes and pay yourself.
